Ten uniquely styled rooms await guests at Elewana AfroChic Diani Beach, each with an Indian Ocean or garden view and outfitted with coastal furniture and fabrics. All rooms are air conditioned and offer a stocked mini bar. As a whole, the accommodations feel akin to a large, Mediterranean-style family villa, where guests may relax together or separately on individual balconies, in the crystal-clear pool or in public lounges dotted with soft furnishings and African artifacts.
Dedicated “AfroChicers” return time and time again to the resort, earning itself a reputation as a “home away from home,” where one can fully relax while taking advantage of world-class amenities in a gorgeous natural setting. Accommodations have direct beach access, free WiFi is available in all rooms, and there is a spa, book and DVD library (to complement the in-room entertainment systems) and a gift shop.
The sea is the shining star at Elewana AfroChic Diani Beach, and guests may venture out for snorkeling or scuba expeditions or on a glass-bottom boat to view the kaleidoscopic sea life. Diversions include wind surfing, kite surfing, dolphin safaris, camel riding on the beach, golf at a nearby 18-hole championship course and day trips to Kisite Marine National Park, Funzi Island, Shimba Hills Reserve (home of the elusive Sable antelope) and the Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary. Of course, there’s always the opportunity to simply sit back under an umbrella on the beach, relishing in a state of pure relaxation. Diani Beach serves as a vital breeding ground for the Green Sea Turtle, and guests may have the chance to see a turtle hatching.
Dining at AfroChic is as individual as the guests who arrive at its powder-white, sandy shores. An à la carte menu is available, with European and Asian flair and a subtle Swahili influence. Meals are served at the location and time of guests’ choosing, including beachside, poolside, in the lush gardens and on the terrace. Seafood is sourced especially for the dish being created, so diners are encouraged to order at least an hour and a half in advance. An extensive wine list complements the menu. A children’s menu caters to the youngest guests.
